Between her lilac/lavender hue and her 6-sided ways,
Hexie the Side Table will put a spell on you!
I think everyone had/has an older family member with one of these vintage style geometric side tables. They are basically made of plastic and without any sprucing they pretty dang ugly. I was sold on this piece and definitely saw the potential when I noticed the knobs! So cute.
So because of the plastic nature of this piece you almost HAVE to use chalk paint. I personally think it works better than any primer. I used 2 coats of Reloved Chalk Paint (BTW - local Edmonton company!) in Cotton as my base. The lilac colour is an interior Behr paint, with no name as I got it for cheap, cheap, cheap as a mis-tint! And then I gently sanded the purple so the white layer could show through. Then it was sealed with Minwax Polyacrylic Sealer. Obviously little legs were added and doing that is one of my favourite ways to update furniture. She's got a whole new personality!
I really transformed the awesome floral handles by scrubbing them with a Scoth-Brite pad and then highlighting the edges with gold nail polish! I was pretty excited when I had that EUREKA! moment AND actaully had gold nail polish on hand! #winning
